The Wye Valley was the place that we all wanted to see. All the information that I gathered is very useful and the key "ingredient" to our designs. Before telling us about the history of their family business his first sentence was "Keep it local", a sentence that is going to influence me the most through my designing journey that I will have. We also had a look at their process of creating the beer. They are are putting a lot of work and effort in creating their family beer and they are all doing it with passion, a design consideration that we all should be aware of. Their passion needs to be reflected by our packaging design. Also a couple of examples from the site visit:
Design considerations:
- showing that their beer would work with a food recipe
- qr codes
- keep it local in terms of illustrations
- sustainability
- gift package
- design for 2 beers and a condiment/ 2 condiments and 1 beer
- audience
- competitors
- typography
- the design can be easily displayed on the shelf (it needs to stand)
- easy and safe to transport
- the products can be seen through the design
- easily taken from the shelfs by customers
